Deepening Point of View

This edition of Notes on Writing is in video format and it’s me in action, revising my first published novel Blackwattle Lake, in readiness for audio publication with Bolinda Australia.

It occurred to me while I was revising one day that sharing my process might provide some useful tips and tricks, so I screen recorded how I revised around a page and a half of the novel. I’ve cut out the pauses so as not to bore you, but you will see me:

  • deepening point of view

  • strengthening imagery

  • tightening sentences

  • using google when I get stuck

  • using the Emotion Thesaurus at onestopforwriters.com

I hope you find it helpful! Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments

It’s the same kind of feedback I provide for students in my Turn Up the Tension course which you can find out more about on the Courses tab on the website or email me at pamela@pamelacook.com.au

Happy writing (and revising)!
