Ever wanted to write a novel or short story but you’re not sure where to start? Or perhaps you’ve started but are unsure how to get to the end?
Join multi-published author and writing teacher Pamela Cook as she shares her top tips for writing fiction – how to start and how to make sure you finish. In this two-hour workshop we’ll look at:
· Finding and finessing ideas
· Planning – or pantsing – your story
· The crucial elements of page-turning fiction
· Developing a dedicated writing process
This workshop is suitable for new and aspiring writers, and anyone who would like to find out more about the magic of turning an idea into a story readers will love. Be sure to bring along your notebook or writing device, and get set for 120 minutes of inspiration.

What makes a reader want to turn the pages all the way to the end of the book?
Join women’s fiction author Pamela Cook as she uncovers the secrets to page-turning fiction. In this four-hour workshop we’ll examine:
how to create hooks in your story opening
structuring your plot for maximum impact
creating tension through conflict
character secrets, backstory and psychology
Using examples from a wide range novels Pamela will share the key elements that will keep readers riveted regardless of the genre you write. Participants should bring the opening three pages of their novel and an outline or synopsis of their story.

‘You never really understand a person...until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.’ Atticus Finch To Kill a Mockingbird. As writers we need to understand our characters, inside and out. In this workshop we’ll go deep, looking at what makes our characters who they are, how to use their experiences to create a page-turning plot, and how to show their emotions to create empathy with our reader.
